Some Like It Hot has to be the best comedy movie ever made. It's not necessarily the funniest, but it's the best.

Pirates of the Caribbean (The Curse of the Black Pearl)
another Blu-Ray experience and a fantastic one at that! what a fun movie! this movie really re-defined the "popcorn" movie. great swashbuckling fun, just the right kind of comedic relief (delivered by and superbly played by all involved) and two of the coolest pirates (two of the greatest CHARACTERS while we're at it) in cinematic history in Depp's Sparrow and Rush's Babossa, that latter being the better pirate of the two, while Depp delivered the greater character imo. the sound and picture were excellent (i could get used Blu-Ray

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) - Decent; worse than the 2007 movie. Too long to say the least,
but very entertaining overall

Goodfellas (1990) - Getting a bit tired of all the gangster movies but this was definitely
in class with for instance the Godfather trilogy.

Almost every year has a "must see" motion picture event.
2007 had Transformers. 2008 had The Dark Knight. 2009 has Paranormal Activity (2007) I'll start out by saying that in terms of theatrical devices, acting, writing, atmosphere, involvement and whatever else is needed for a good film, this is the best film I have ever seen. Possibly Pulp Fiction comes close, but I have to say this is #1. (To clarify, American Beauty and The Shawshank Redemption are better motion pictures, but they rely on professionally perfect production, beyond amazing storylines and some of the best actors of our time... It doesn't take anything away from them, I'm just saying Paranormal Activity is the best pure film I have ever seen and only Pulp Fiction comes close.) Let's try to sum up what is great about this film without spoilers first; -interesting storyline... a commonly told type of story with a unique premise -best progression of a story ever (better than Shawshank, Beauty or Pulp) -generally predictable but specifics are impossible to predict... keeps you on edge -pure psychological horror -acting is as good as it needs to be (keep in mind acting as a young couple who just moved in together isn't the hardest role to act... it was still as good as it had to be) -the movie is actually comforting (to most people) if you think about it -glues you to your seat, not thinking about anything else I might discuss it more in depth when more people have seen it (I want to discuss specifics so badly right now)... all I can say is that this film is the first "must see" since...well I can't think of any to be honest (seeing as TDK and Titanic both suck.) |

Wow, that post sucked and did the film nowhere near justice.
Forgot to mention the ending is satisfying, frightening, amazing and perfect. (Endings of films to me are either amazing or they're not... other films with incredible endings are American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Transformers and pretty much nothing else, not even Wall-E or Armageddon.) |

Where The Wild Things Are <3
i had an absolute great time at this movie! for the record, I LOVE MAX RECORDS!! this kid (Records) really brings you into his character's imagination! for a 9 year old (at the time when he was cast) he has given us a truly memorable performance, imo, one of the five great performances of the past few years!!! Spike Jonze REALLY got the tone and feeling of his adaptation right with his latest! the wild things themselves FAR exceeded my expectations with their interactions with each other and with Max! also the place where the majority of the film takes place (i guess it's called the wild place...) was so rich and beautiful! this movie made me: sad, happy, angry, scared, excited, nervous and nearly everything in between! A MUST SEE FOR ALL!!! upon first watch-9/10

Wall-E
good, above average, but i still feel like there is SOMETHING (not sure what) missing from this story. it is definitely cute and sweet, but like i said, there is something missing. after the 2nd time i see it i would rate this movie a 7.5/10

The Awful Truth - typical Cary Grant screwball comedy but not as funny as others such as Bringing Up Baby. I always want to slap ppl in these movies
The Conversation - had some cool moments, but didn't really take anything valuable away from the whole thing. Ended unexpectedly and I must have missed its overall point or something. Let the Right One In - very cool Swedish movie. Cool vampire story, amazing final scene, not gay like Twilight (though of course I'd never watch that one!) |

The Gold Rush (1925). I think Chaplin said that this was the movie he
wanted to be remembered for. Although I haven't seen all of his movies, not even the most known ones, I completely disagree. For example, I thought The Kid
was way better; that one had a much better storyline and was more touching. This movie wasn't bad or anything, but it was too standard.
City Lights (1931). A pretty good Chaplin movie. I loved some scenes, and his performance was quite unique again. (I'm trying to watch the most famour Chaplin movies in order of time, so starting with the oldest ones). Still prefer The Kid over this one though! The Long Weekend (2005). A standard really crappy American Pie sort of movie, with a lot of sex and all that stuff. And sure I can appreciate one of these movies once in a while. As long as you keep in mind that you're not going to see a superb oscar-deserving movie, it's not really terrible to watch these type of movies at all. Groundhog Day (1993). 2th time I watch it. Remains an epic, really creative movie. Was quite funny again, even though I had seen it quite recently before. Cool Hand Luke (1967). 2th time I watch it. Another movie I truly like. I have no idea what my short review was when I first saw it, but this time I really liked it. The first half of the movie was a bit boring though, something I haven't noticed the first time watching it. When he goes on an escape-from-prison spree it begins to get epically good. Sherlock Jr. (1924). For a 44 minutes movie the story isn't entertaining at all. But I think that there were plenty of good scenes and thought-out moments to compensate this. This movie contains some good dosis of humour, so it's quite worth to checking this movie out because it's not that long anyway. |

Exodus (1960) - although its length (200 minutes) this wasn't as bad as I expected. The film lifts up by
the wonderful, Oscar winning score. Tedious at some parts, though.
