Bryan told me that his 23:15 was more like 23:05 because he started timing when turning the console on. In Jimbo's case, I feel as though the vid timer should be the time that's counted (that's what I used for my run), unless he can prove or give good reason why the vid time is too slow.

While this got bumped, let it be noted that Jim's Agent race time should be 23:45. 23:14 is complete bullshit, seeing as both the vid timer reads 23:45, and his run was crap (with the exception of a couple of seconds above average on facility). I mean Control 4:35..... Cradle 47 with cinemas..... no way it was 23:14.

To save the trouble of this, all speed runs should just be mission time only, where we can all watch the same amount of cinema, etc....

Well SDA and such sites doesn't care about how fast each level is done, only how fast you can complete the game. Since most other games doesn't have a timer they have to use real time.

I still think that within Elite we should use mission times.

cool, I'll have to update again soon. I thought I saw a Matt Cook submission hanging around; where did that go? Or did I imagine it? Anyone remember what it was? Please post it here. I hope to update this week.

I'd prefer to keep both real and mission times up unless it proves trivial. Originally Derek's challenge was fastest time start to finish including all extra-mission screens (that is to say, realtime). Then he said it'd be good to have the mission times too, and it is great to have both.

I'm not sure I believe Dam A 0:57 on 1.2 either. Sure, I get them about half the time, but considering times like Streets 118 and Surface 1 124, I doubt your strafing is on par with mine...

Well you could always change to 1.2 and then reset and then the new game file has 1.2 saved and you can begin to play with it from the start without having to pause for it during the actual run. The rules says that time taken to change settings does count against your final time but it says nothing about that you couldn't have changed the settings before selecting the file to begin the actual run. I played with 1.1 and had changed the auto look up off beforehand though you wouldn't have known that if I hadn't told you

But those are his PRs for each level www.geocities.com/pdarkn64/ I don't think he meant that he got them during a single speed run trough all levels.

Nah, 1.2ers are supposed to get the shaft here. The agent run must be started from a completely fresh file..... the kind that stutters a bit as soon as you select it. I guess the only exception to this would be if you got the gay intro on Dam. But, changing settings is supposed to be done during the run and it counts against you.

Screwed things up a bit on some levels, bad FR on Statue too but got also lucky with the hostages on Frigate and Nat on Control. I could like do the menus and cinemas faster for a better real time but then I'd probably go back to the file and show the mission times for each level after the run.

I think it's confusing with two different ways of timing these, I think it's better to be a bit slower in the menus so people can se the mission times and then go by those to count the total time.

Or Maybe I should just go back to playing single missons now, lets see what happens.
